saffronOn 14th February, officers visited Saffron, Indian Restaurant and takeaway on Cardiff Road, Aberdare. There, a 29-year-old Pakistani man who had overstayed his visa was arrested. His possessions and a bed were later discovered in an office behind the kitchen.

The same evening, officers visited Wok U Like Chinese Takeaway, on High Street, Merthyr Tydfil and arrested a 39-year-old Chinese woman they found working illegally.

On 13th February, officers went to Spice Merchant Indian Restaurant, on Chapel St, Abergele, entering at 7pm. Following immigration checks a 34-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested for overstaying his visa.

On 12th February,they visited Dragon Court Chinese Restaurant, Capital Retail Park, Leckwith, Cardiff. As they entered the business, two men tried to leg it but were caught.
Following checks, four immigration offenders were identified. A 25-year-old Nepalese woman was found to be working in breach of her student visa, a 30-year-old Chinese man was working illegally, while a 27-year-old Chinese woman and a 51-year-old Chinese man were both found to have entered the UK illegally.

The men arrested in Aberdare and Abergele and the 51-year-old man and 25-year-old woman arrested in Cardiff are all in detention pending their removal from the UK.
The other three illegal workers have been released to find illegal work elsewhere. There are job vacancies in Eastbourne and Portsmouth if they’re interested.

In Eastbourne

Officers visited Spice Garden, Church Street, on 13th February. Individuals were questioned to check if they had the right to be in the UK.
They arrested a 27-year-old Bangladeshi man who had overstayed his visa. He must report regularly to pending removal from the country, that’s if he bothers to.

In Portsmouth

risingsunThree illegal workers from China have been arrested following an operation in Portsmouth.
Immigration officers visited Rising Sun, Kingston Road, at about 17:15 on 13th February 2014 and arrested three men, aged 36, 40 and 43, who had all overstayed their visas.
All those arrested were detained pending removal from the country apart from the 36-year-old who has been placed on immigration bail while travel documentation is obtained to enable his removal from the UK. That’s if he can ever be found again.

In London

LondisOfficers visited Amia Beauty Salon, The Mall, Ealing, and Londis, Greenford Avenue, Hanwell on 18th February 2014.
At Amia, which was visited at about 10:15, officers arrested a 24-year-old Indian woman who was found to be working in breach of her visa conditions.

They then visited Londis at 11:45. There, they arrested two Sri Lankan nationals. A 27-year-old man was working in breach of his visa conditions while a woman, also aged 27, was not found to be working but arrested for an immigration offence.
