DeldeffieldA Tube worker from Herne Bay, Kent, smuggled two Albanians into Britain in the boot of his car.
Matthew Delderfield, 43, hid the illegal immigrants in his Vauxhall Vectra, perhaps Vauxhall can use this as a selling point for their ‘jam jar’ (car). Vectra’s boot is so big you can traffick people in it. Anyway he reckoned he was given a “sob story” by a friend at London Underground. That old chestnut. Unfortunately he came unstuck after he was stopped by immigration officials and the Albanians were found hiding.
Delderfield was arrested and admitted the smuggling offence at Canterbury Crown Court. He was caught red-handed how can he not plead guilty.

Apparently an Albanian who works for the underground spun him a story about two Albanians who were having serious ‘aggro’ in their own country. Are Albanians allowed to work over here?
The judge must have fallen for Delderfield’s sob story too as he was given an 18-month jail sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay £2,000 costs.
The judge then ordered that his £6,000 car, which was seized by the UK Border Agency in December 2012, be forfeited. Delderfield was also ordered to do 250 hours of unpaid work for the community.
Sham marriage stopped

Acting on information that the relationship may not be genuine, officers attended the Register Office, St George’s Hall in Liverpool shortly before 10:00 on 28th January 2014.
Just before the ceremony was due to begin officers stepped in and the 30-year-old man, who had been living in Manchester, was arrested after checks revealed he was in the country illegally.
He had been due to marry a 19-year-old Slovakian woman, who was interviewed by officers and later released. The ‘groom’ has been detained pending his removal from the UK.

Another sham marriage stopped

eupakistanA man has been arrested and faces removal from the UK after a suspected sham wedding was prevented in Weybridge.
Acting on information that the relationship may not be genuine, officers attended Weybridge Register Office, Oatlands Drive, at about 11:00 on 28th January 2014.
They arrested a 28-year-old Pakistani man who was in the country illegally having overstayed his visa. He was detained and now faces removal from the UK.
His would-be bride, a 24-year-old Bulgarian woman, was questioned by officers and later released. The pair gave inconsistent accounts of their relationship and shared no common language.

Algerian growing cannabis

A cannabis farm has been discovered following an operation at an address in Brighton.
Acting on intelligence, officers visited a house on St James’ Street Mews at about 06:15 on 27th January 2014, where they carried out immigration checks on those living there.
A 33-year-old Algerian man who had overstayed his visa was arrested. Officers searching the building then found around 70 cannabis plants in a bedroom. This matter was passed to Sussex Police for further investigation and their officers are now questioning the man.

Talking about overstaying visas, has anyone checked if all those foreign Olympians have actually returned home?
