Shaan do that again
Four illegal workers have been arrested following operations in Woodstock and Witney in Oxfordshire.
Officers visited Judd’s Garage, Woodleys, Woodstock, and Shaan Indian restaurant, Corn Street, Witney, on Friday 18th October. Individuals were questioned to check if they had the right to be in the UK.
A 23-year-old Indian man who had entered the country illegally was arrested at Judd’s, which officers visited at 17:15.
They then moved on to Shaan, which was visited at 20:05. There, they arrested three Bangladeshi men. One, aged 21, had overstayed his visa while the others, aged 28 and 35, had entered the country illegally. All four men were transferred to immigration detention pending removal from the country.
Illegals with a ticket to Ryde
Three illegal workers from Albania have been arrested following an operation by Home Office immigration enforcement in Ryde.
Officers visited Five Star Hand Carwash, East Street, at 15:00 on 23rd October 2013. Individuals were questioned to check if they had the right to be in the UK.
Two of the men, aged 20 and 26, attempted to have it away on their toes but were stopped by officers and arrested. The other man arrested was aged 25.
The 25-year-old was transferred to immigration detention pending removal from the country. The other two are currently being questioned by immigration officers and also face removal from the country if found to have no leave to remain.
Officers also found £2,000 in cash after searching an address in Monkton Street where the 25-year-old lived.
Illegals ferried in
In Newcastle, County Down a 23-year-old Bangladeshi man was found working at the Exotikka Indian restaurant on Central Promenade, Newcastle, by officers, who visited the premises on the evening of 18th October 2013 to check the immigration status of staff.
The man, who had overstayed his visa, was arrested and is now in detention while steps are taken to remove him from the country.
During the same week officers operating at Northern Ireland ferry ports and airports detected seven immigration offenders.
Five have now been removed from the country and two remain in detention while steps are taken to remove them.
Hands on Ugandan 7
Illegal workers from Uganda have been arrested following an operation by immigration officers in Guildford.
Officers visited the Hands On car wash, at the Sainsbury’s car park in Burpham, at about 17:35 on 24th October 2013. Three men, aged between 32 and 37, and a 37-year-old woman were found to have overstayed their visas. Two men, aged 31 and 33, were working in breach of their visa conditions and a 31-year-old had entered the country illegally. A 45-year-old man was also found to be an immigration offender.
All those found were arrested and transferred to immigration detention pending removal from the country, apart from the men aged 32 and 33 who were placed on immigration bail to seek illegal employment somewhere else. The 45-year-old is still being questioned by officers.
