Eight illegal workers have been detained following an operation by officers with the assistance of Police Scotland in Livingston.
On Friday 19th July 2013, officers visited the China Glen restaurant within the Livingston Designer Outlet to carry out checks on the immigration status of staff.
They arrested six men and two women from China aged between 23 and 59 who were working illegally. During the operation, three of the immigration offenders attempted to have it away on their toes but were caught by immigration officers and the police.
All eight people are currently detained pending their removal from the UK. Following the operation and the arrests, the restaurant has closed until further notice. Good job too, eight illegal workers is taking the mickey.
“Immigrants will be able to benefit from the new Help to Buy scheme because the Government is powerless to impose a ban on European Union nationals. As a result, any couple or single person born abroad in any country from Spain to Romania could use taxpayers’ money to get onto the housing ladder.”
