Acting on intelligence UKBA officers visited the Indian Lounge at Swinegate on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May with the assistance of officers from North Yorkshire Police.
Checks on the immigration status of staff revealed four men aged 33, 34, 36 and 40 ( hmmm, might use those numbers on a Eurolottery ticket) from Bangladesh who had no right to work in the UK. They were arrested and have all been detained pending their removal from the country.
Two other men who did not have the right to work in the UK were also encountered at the restaurant. They were not arrested, but must now report to the Home Office. Yeah right they’ll have it away on their toes never to be seen again.
The business was closed after the visit, as there were no staff left to run it.
Talking about illegals
Four illegal workers have been caught following raids at businesses in Strood and Gillingham, Kent on Friday 3rd May 2013.
Home Office immigration enforcement officers visited Wimpy, High Street, Strood. They checked the immigration status of the staff and found a 30-year-old man from Uzbekistan, who had not left the UK when his visa expired, working illegally. He was arrested and placed in immigration detention.
Officers also encountered a second man from Bulgaria who was working illegally. He was stopped from working and given a fixed penalty notice of £1000. Ah well he can return next year and work here legally can’t he?
A visit by officers to Twydall Tandoori, Twydall Green, Gillingham, revealed two Bangladeshi men working illegally. Checks showed one, aged 30, had not left the UK when his visa expired, the other, aged 24, was working in breach of his visa conditions.
Both were arrested, and along with the Uzbekistani man, remain in immigration detention while steps are taken by the Home Office to remove them from the UK.
