Atos logo 2011A disabled man was trapped in a centre run by Atos, they’re the people who force disabled and dying people to look for non-existent jobs, when the fire alarm went off and staff fled the building, leaving him behind in his wheelchair.

Geoff Meeghan, 32, who has early-onset Parkinson’s and is unable to walk more than three yards without support, was being assessed on the second floor of a building in Neasden, north-west London. I ask you disabled people being assessed on the second floor, I suppose this is so if a disabled person can’t get up two flights of stairs they can be accused of not attending their interview so immediately lose their benefits for non-attendance.

Disabled people arriving for appointments are supposed to be asked if they can exit the building without assistance, but Mr Meeghan was not. He waited with his support worker Nick Ephgrave, from the charity Parkinson’s UK, and his sister, who acts as one of his carers, before being called in for his assessment. A few minutes in, the alarm sounded and the doctor present said they needed to evacuate.

“The doctor held the door open for us to come out but then ran down the stairs and left us there,” Mr Meeghan said. “We weren’t allowed to use the lift and asked a security guard for help – he said he’d send some but no one came. Eventually another security guard came past and stayed with us, even though he had been told to evacuate”.

A Surrey restaurant caught with five illegals.

reroseBorder Agency officers visited the Red Rose restaurant on Bellfields Road in Guildford at around 13:00 on Wednesday 28th November, where they carried out checks on staff to see if they had the right to work in the UK.

They arrested three men, Bangladeshi nationals aged 21, 31 and 60 for being in the country illegally having over-stayed their visas. A 4th Bangladeshi man, aged 27, was arrested for entering the UK illegally. All 4 were detained pending their removal from the UK.

In addition a 5th Bangladeshi man was found to have no legal right to work in the UK. He had an outstanding application with UKBA and so was escorted from the premises. If his application is unsuccessful he will also face removal, yeah right.

Gor blimey and stone the crows, the blog’s snow widget has started to work showing snow drifting across my blog and I look out the window and it is snowing, how freaky is that.
