NHS ripped off!

Epanutin capsules were costing the NHS just over £2m a year until Flynn Pharma, a British company, bought the rights to sell the anti-seizure medicine from Pfizer, slung it into different packaging and whopped the price up 24 fold. Now the annual bill will be £46.6m.
The capsules are identical to those being sold before, even down to the ‘Epanutin’ markings on them. Only the packaging has changed. Now packs read ‘Phenytoin Sodium Flynn Hard Capsules’.
The Stevenage-based firm has been able to raise the price by switching it from being a ‘branded’ drug – whose prices are set by industry agreement with the Department of Health – to a ‘generic’ version.

By the way

IlieNew NHS guidelines say tourists must be given free treatment by GPs because it is their human rights. Doctors across England must register any foreign patient who asks for care otherwise it would be ‘discriminatory’. These include asylum seekers, overseas students or tourists coming for a short holiday. Once registered, they will be entitled to the same NHS care as all other patients and can receive free blood tests, jabs and – in some cases – free prescription drugs. No wonder the NHS is going broke.

Social media sites was benefits officer fraudster’s undoing.

A benefits officer was caught by colleagues fraudulently claiming council tax discount after he posted on Facebook and Twitter about his family. Social media sites, a part of Big Brother?
Married father-of-two Jonathan Lincoln was exposed after he failed ID and address checks for staff working in the benefits department of Medway Council, Kent.
Lincoln had illegally claimed a 25% council tax discount for living as a single person despite living with his wife and family but had also turned a blind eye to his wife Ellen Lincoln’s bogus income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit claims.

At Maidstone Crown Court, prosecutor Philip Sinclair said the charges related to £904.50 fraudulently claimed by Mr Lincoln for single person allowance for council tax, and £5,616.07 in relation to claims for income support and housing and council tax benefit.

He was sentenced to a 16-week prison sentence suspended for one year, ordered to carry out 150 hours community service and to pay £500 towards costs. He gave Mrs Lincoln, 29, a conditional discharge for 12 months.

That taught them a lesson, NOT.

  1. Howard Thomas says:

Our NHS is truly an international health service since the GPs have been told (only this year) that they have to register anyone that asks . The figures say that health tourism costs the NHS £40million per year………………..but you can’t yell me that every Tom ,Dick and Abdul don’t have any idea as to how to get all their uncles ,aunts, cousins and brothers from all over the world onto a doctor’s waiting list in the UK , and therefore treated for free.!!!!!!!!! and nobody can count that.
If ever there was a case for ID cards, this is it………….. No ID card sir, sorry but the airport is that way…………………kind of opposite to the way you just came if you know what I mean!
