Illegal Working Dozen

The Illegal Working Dozen

First we, as I’ve previously blogged, had three lots of seven illegal workers caught at three different businesses which was a tied record at seven but that record has been smashed by a group of 12 illegal workers caught at one business, yes 12 illegal workers at one business and all Indians so hold that jumbo jet flight to India.

Twelve people have been arrested following a UK Border Agency raid on a sandwich-making factory, Devi Foods on the Dokal Industrial Estate, Hartington Road, Southall on the morning of Thursday 1st March.

All 12 employees working at the site were arrested for immigration offences, two attempted to scarper but were nabbed. The eight men and four women were all Indian nationals.

Ten were arrested for working in breach of their visa conditions, one was in the country illegally having overstayed their visa and the other was found to have gained leave to remain by deception.

Eleven are now in detention pending their removal from the UK, while one woman has been granted immigration bail so she can seek employment somewhere else.

UKBA spiel says their employer could now face a fine of up to £120,000, £10,000 per illegal worker, no, no, no I’m not going to bother with that old ‘pony and trap’ (crap) we all know they not going to pay they’ll probably shut down and re-open with another relative as owner. The owner should face a prison sentence for facilitation of illegal immigrants not some fine they’re not going to pay.
