Cherie Blair, football agent

This caught my eye in the linen draper (newspaper) today.

Cherie Blair took time out of her gallivanting around the world making money to meet an unknown Mexican footballer to help boost her son’s sports agency business.

A car collected 17-year-old soccer prodigy Raul Mendiola from his family’s rundown trailer-park home in a Spanish-speaking suburb of Los Angeles and took him to the flash hotel where the wife of the ex-Prime Minister was staying.

Mrs Blair – who is a director of her son Nicky’s football agency, to which Raul is signed – spent time chatting to the footballer before posing for a photograph.

Days later, Raul’s mother Claudia Velador received a picture of a smartly dressed Mr and Mrs Blair, personally signed with the words ‘Thank you’. Raul’s mum said the picture has now been framed and takes pride of place in the living room of the family trailer home. Yeah right, once she finds out who the hell the Blair’s are that’ll be on ebay.

Raul, who moved to America from Mexico ten years ago following the break-up of his parents’ marriage, hopes to become a football star after signing to Nicky Blair’s Magnitude Limited sports agency.

Job vacancies in London

UK Border Agency officers arrested 6 illegal workers after carrying out an enforcement operation on the Maroush Express Restaurant, Edgware Road, west London, around 4.45pm on Monday 12th December 2011.

Four people were arrested for overstaying their visas, two Brazilian men aged 22 and 34, a 28-year-old Georgian woman and a 33-year-old Syrian man, a 32-year-old Brazilian man and a 29-year-old Egyptian man, had entered the country illegally; and a partridge in a pear tree.

All 6 people are currently in immigration detention while the UK Border Agency takes steps to remove them from the country at the earliest possible opportunity.

Six illegal workers, now that is taking the mickey.
