What a coincidence when UK’s high unemployment figures are in the news that a huge amount of illegal workers have been caught over a three day period in Devon.

Can you imagine how many could be caught if UKBA had more officers. What county will hit the hundred caught figure in one series of raids, must check PaddyPower.com for some odds and have a flutter because as sure as eggs is eggs that day will come.

The UK Border Agency has arrested 24 illegal workers during a series of raids at businesses across Devon.

IlieStarting on Wednesday 9th November, immigration officers went to Spice Bazaar, Fore Street, Bovey Tracey, where two Bangladeshi men were caught working illegally.

At Naz Indian Cuisine, Somerset Place, Teignmouth, five members of staff were found to be illegal workers after immigration checks were carried out.

On to Rickshaw Boy, Roundham Road, Paignton, where a Chinese man was caught working illegally before heading to Simla Spice in Torwood Street, Torquay, where two men from Mauritius and Bangladesh were employed illegally.

The following day on 10th November, officers went to Moghul Brasserie, Vicarage Street, Barnstaple, where a Bangladeshi man was arrested for illegal working.

At American Nails, Boutport Street, also in Barnstaple, two Vietnamese men were found to be working illegally.

In Ilfracombe, a Malaysian man and a Chinese man were arrested for illegal working at Emperor’s Court, High Street.

Five men from Bangladesh were then arrested at Rajpoot, Bridge House, Okehampton.

On Friday, 11 November, two Chinese men and a Chinese woman were arrested at the New Rodney, New Road, Saltash – the gateway to Cornwall. A Turkish man was also arrested at Food4U, Mutley Plain, in Plymouth.

One of the Vietnamese men from American Nails in Barnstaple and a Bangladeshi man from Rajpoot in Okehampton have been released on immigration bail so they’ll turn up working illegally at a later date.

The other 22 people arrested remain in immigration detention pending their removal from the UK.

Why gormless politicians blame the recession for unemployment beats me the reason is as plain as the nose on your face, millions of migrant workers and thousands of illegal workers have taken our jobs it’s as simple as that.

To describe the politicians as “gormless” is being a little too kind isn’t it !”
