Joey Barton refused visa

If Newcastle’s footballer Joey Barton can be refused a visa to play friendlies in the USA because of his criminal record how come the UK can’t refuse entry to the masses of east European criminals who turn up on our shores.

IlieNewcastle United midfielder Joey Barton will miss his team’s pre-season tour of the United States after being denied a visa. Judging by this picture he has also been ‘tangoed’

Newcastle depart on Sunday to play Sporting Kansas on July 20, Orlando City on July 23 and Columbus Crew on July 26.

However Barton, 28, who was given a six-month jail sentence after admitting assault and affray in 2008, was informed by the U.S. authorities he would not be granted a visa.

Instead, the club said on their website he will join the reserves tour of Netherlands.

“Unfortunately, I was denied my visa due to my past,” Barton said on the website.

“I regret not being able to travel with the club on this trip, but at the same time, I don’t expect to be treated any differently or more favourably than anyone else in a similar situation. “All I can do is continue to improve as a person, which is what I intend to do.

Food for thought

A Saudi man was beheaded on Friday in Tabuk in the kingdom’s north after being convicted of sexually assaulting another man’s wife.

Hello Percy, do you remember Ashar Ali Rathore. The guy from Luton who masterminded a sham marriage ring. He was sentenced to 2 years back in December. His solicitor made an application for the sentence to be stopped and for Ashar to be deported. This has happened and Ashar was deported along with his wife Nadia Qadri (who was sentenced to 8 months of which she served 4 months in the same case) yesterday Friday 15th July. I am very happy about this at least they will no longer be a burden on the state. Hopefully this will be a lesson to anybody else who wants to concoct a sham marriage. Best regards Jack.
