A new short term holding centre to assist with the removal of illegal immigrants from Northern Ireland has been officially opened in Larne.
The new centre, Larne House, Co Antrim is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and will only house adults with separate sleeping quarters for men and women. Once operational it will accommodate a maximum of 21 illegal immigrants for a period of up to 7 days in order to facilitate their removal from the UK.
But even though the first detainees will not be accepted into Larne House until 11th July 2011 the do-gooders Amnesty International have already raised concerns about Reliance Secure Task Management who will run the facility.
For goodness sake wait until it actually has detainees before bellyaching about conditions.
