Honeypot for illegal workers

IlieSix illegal workers were arrested during a UK Border Agency raid on a Dunstable bakery.

Acting on intelligence, UK Border Agency officers, supported by Bedfordshire Police and the Gangmasters Licensing Authority, executed a warrant at Honeytop Speciality Foods on the Woodside Industrial Estate on 21 June.

Officers checked the immigration status of the workers and six were found to have no right to be in the UK.

Three of the illegal workers – a Pakistani man, 47, an Indian woman, 30, and a Ghanaian man, 24, – had overstayed their visas. The others – two Indian men aged 36 and 25 and a 22-year-old Iranian man – had entered the UK illegally.

ALEX Salmond has realised he was going off half cocked over the declared crackdown on sectarianism but it will not be made law until the end of the year. His decision took less than two hours after the minister in charge of the plans had insisted it needed to be introduced within weeks.
The First Minister revealed he had changed his mind on the timing of the bill and would allow further parliamentary scrutiny after Holyrood rises for its summer recess next week.

The change of time means MSPs will be able to gather more evidence on the crazy plans, prior to them being made into law before the new year.
