Has Israel relocated?

IlieAs Michael Caine swears blind he didn’t say “not a lot of people know that” in this case England FA put in a bid to hold the 2013 European Under 21 Championship. Unfortunately England received no votes among the 16 Uefa executive committee members in January. In fact our executive committee member Geoff Thompson was prevented for voting for his own bid in Zurich!

Anyway my point is, Israel won the right to hold the European Championship. But hold up, my geography was never a strong point at school, but isn’t Israel in the Middle East and not part of mainland Europe?

Mind you I can see after calling Fifa corrupt and liars after our failed 2018 World Cup bid that our bid for the Under-21 was a bit of a forlon hope.

St George’s Day march cancelled.

Scouts have been marching through Sittingbourne for St George’s Day for over 40 years but it has been brought to an end after police deemed it too risky.

Up to 400 youngsters were due to line up for the annual town centre procession this Sunday.

However, the march has been cancelled because police refused to help close the roads, blaming their decision on the organisers’ “lack of preparation” with regard to “risk management”.

However, in January, applications were made to both police and Swale Council for Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and members of the Guiding Movement to march along their usual route from the council’s headquarters in East Street, up the High Street, left along Central Avenue and across Avenue of Remembrance to the school.

But alas the police, due to an administrative error, had not progressed with the request and therefore, because they had not approved the request, the council had also not progressed the matter. There’s me thinking police only did paperwork these days.

The police then said due to new guidance issued by their legal department and the Association of Chief Police Officers, they were no longer able to support events such as St George’s Day.

Is he having a laugh?

Sheppey and Sittingbourne Conservative MP Gordon Hendersonis urges people to take part in a Government consultation exercise being held as part of a reform of the planning rules surrounding traveller and Gypsy sites.

Helloooo! The government has made it racist if you open your mouth against travellers.

It’s snippet time!

Several workers were taken ill following a hospital food tasting session.

Staff at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness complained of irritation to their eyes and one of swelling to their face.

NHS Highland said about eight staff attended accident and emergency on 20 April but they were not kept in and have returned to work. At least they were in the right place for treatment.

Supplier Apetito said it was working closely with the hospital and Highland Council to identify the trigger for the irritation.

The food in the taster session was being checked for its suitability for patients who have difficulty swallowing.

In a statement, NHS Highland said: “It is not yet clear what has caused this but we, along with our food supplier, are investigating thoroughly”.

and there’s more

Four police community support officers have been sacked after they secretly visited a Soho brothel while on duty. In this case not so secret.

The four abandoned their positions guarding potential terrorist targets in the sensitive ‘government security zone’ in central London. Then, wearing uniform, they met up at a vice den located five doors from a Metropolitan Police ‘community safety office’ and, according to sources, asked after an Eastern European ‘model’ who plied her trade there.

talking about PCSO’s

Three PCSO’s supervised a teenager on a fishing trip at a lake in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Police say the publicly funded expedition was organised to help officers bond with the community and ‘get young people involved in positive activities’.
