Police leave woman to the mercy of traveller thugs

It’s Spring, flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing and travellers start hitting the news.

IlieWhen a gang of travellers trespassed on her land and allegedly threatened to cut her throat with a chainsaw, Tracy St Clair Pearce dialled 999, expecting protection from the police.

But after having a chat at the traveller’s camp, officers came back and confiscated her shotgun, saying it was a “sensible precaution”. In case she shot one of the gang trying to cut her throat?

Miss St Clair Pearce, a cancer sufferer who is receiving chemotherapy, was walking in her smallholding, at Seven Saints Farm near Chelmsford, Essex, on Friday evening when she was approached by four teenagers from an encampment next to her land.

The 50-year-old, could hear the sound of a chainsaw cutting her trees for firewood and told the youths to leave. In response, they subjected her to a barrage of abuse, Miss St Clair Pearce claims. One of the gang, a boy of about 14, allegedly said that he would kill her and her animals.

“He threatened to slit my throat and he also threatened to cut the throats of the cows, the calves and foals,” she said.

After she stood her ground, three of the youths walked to an another field, from where they allegedly threw stones at her and exposed themselves while shouting obscenities.

A fifth youth continued to cut boughs off trees with a chainsaw behind her throughout the confrontation. Police apparently did nothing about this crime.

Miss St Clair Pearce called police, who took a statement only to return on Monday with a warrant to seize the 12-bore shotgun and smaller weapon which she owns legally and keeps to deter foxes from attacking her poultry.

Welcome to the lunatic asylum called Britain where the public have been made defenceless against murderers, rapists, muggers and thugs!

Some people will find a chess board racist

At least four officers are said to have visited residents in the hamlet of Pitcombe, Somerset, after a poster of the Conservative councillor Mike Beech had a Hitler-like moustache drawn on it.

After seeing the poster, Mr Beech reported it to the police. Officers began an inquiry under the Public Order Act, saying that the poster could be deemed to cause “harassment, alarm and distress” to the councillor. No more than he’ll get by being a Conservative in this time of crippling financial cuts to our services.

Officers even conducted house-to-house inquiries, visiting homeowners at each of the hamlet’s 20 houses. Villagers said the investigation was “an outrageous waste of police and taxpayers’ money”.

A pub singer has been arrested on suspicion of racism for singing the classic chart hit Kung Fu Fighting.

The song, performed by Simon Ledger, 34, is said to have offended two Chinese people as they walked past the pub where he was singing. Disc jockeys beware what you play on the radio, you too could be had up for racism.

The entertainer regularly performs the 1974 number one, originally by disco star Carl Douglas, at the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown, Isle of Wight.

But after one of the passers-by reported his routine on Sunday afternoon, Mr Ledger was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment.

‘We were performing Kung Fu Fighting, as we do during all our sets,’ he said. ‘People of all races were loving it. Chinese people have never been offended by it before.

‘But this lad walking past with his mum started swearing at us and making obscene hand gestures before taking a picture on his mobile phone. We hadn’t even seen them when we started the song. He must have phoned the police.’

Officers later called Mr Ledger while he was eating in a Chinese restaurant to arrange a meeting. The singer assumed it was a prank – but he was later arrested and is still under investigation.
