The Chicken Children

Posted: December 22, 2010 in British jobs for British workers

Just because I’m too busy to report on all the illegal workers caught doesn’t mean there aren’t any, here’s just a few who have been caught lately.

IlieThree illegal workers were caught during a raid on 7 December at the 2J Takeaway, Union Street, Hereford at 17:40.

Two Chinese men preparing food in the kitchen were found to have no permission to work in the UK. Checks revealed that both were failed asylum seekers. A Malaysian woman, aged 34, was taking orders behind the front counter. She had a visit visa but no permission to work in the UK. The Chinese men were released on immigration bail so they can seek illegal work elsewhere. The Malaysian woman was arrested and detained pending her removal.

Another Chinese national, identified as a 41-year-old illegal entrant to the UK, was found on the 1st floor above the takeaway but was not observed working. Officers transferred her to an immigration detention centre, where she will remain until her asylum claim has been decided.

Two illegal workers were caught following a UK Border Agency raid on the Hand Car Wash in Great North Road, Great Casterton at 12:30 in Stamford on 13 December.

An Iraqi man aged 26 and an 19-year-old Iranian man were found to be cleaning cars despite having no permission to work in the UK. Checks revealed that both were failed asylum seekers. Both men were released on immigration bail so they too can seek illegal work somewhere else and disappear to avoid deportation.

An immigration offender has been caught working illegally as the head chef of Thai Rack restaurant in George Street, St Albans on Tuesday 14 December. The head chef, a 50-year-old Thai woman, had overstayed her visa.
