Half of employees were illegal

IlieFive people were arrested following a raid on a restaurant in Luton by UKBA.

As officers arrived at Aroma, Galaxy Centre, Bridge Street shortly before 18:00hrs, three members of staff made an attempt to flee from the rear of the premises but were caught by officers from Bedfordshire Police, who were supporting the operation.

Of the 10 employees who were on site at the time of the raid, five people, all from China, were arrested for a variety of immigration offences. Four remain in detention pending their removal from the UK, all worked as front of house staff in the buffet restaurant. The fifth has been granted immigration bail.

Talking about foreigners, some just come here to commit crimes.

Four Slovakians have been arrested accused of stealing around £275,000 in a major tax credit fraud. The arrests follow raids by HM Revenue and Customs officers across Medway yesterday morning.

The two men and two women are alleged to be part of an organised crime gang, with a substantial sum of cash and documents seized from properties in Chatham and Rochester. It’s alleged the gang completed fraudulent National Insurance applications and then made bogus tax credits claims

When caught some just take the p*ss

Murder suspect Tomas Uptas refused to give evidence because he wanted a cigarette yesterday. Uptas, 32, is accused of murdering his girlfriend, fellow Lithuanian Loreta Raupiene, 46, at a bedsit in Victoria Road, Wincheap, Canterbury. He was due to continue giving evidence after lunch yesterday, but said he needed a cigarette because he was stressed.
