Illegals 4 U

Posted: January 25, 2010 in British jobs for British workers

IlieSix people allegedly working illegally at a Margate factory have been arrested.

The UK Border Agency made the arrests (Wed, Jan 20) after officers visited the Juice 4 U factory at Enterprise Road.

Six illegal workers found in a small factory in a seaside town in Thanet which has the highest unemployment figures in Kent. If this incident of illegal workers being employed is replicated throughout UK there must be tens of thousands of our unemployed needlessly on Job Seeker benefits. Fines of £10,000, which according to figures are not even being paid, is not an adequate punishment for this crime; it’s time for prison sentences.

After checking their documentation, six workers, who allegedly had no right to work in the UK, were identified.

Those arrested included one Pakistani national who was detained pending his removal from the UK, two Algerians, two Mauritians and one Iranian – they have all been given immigration bail, giving them time to disappear, while officers work to remove them from the country.

As Margate is only about 2 miles from Ramsgate ferry port the illegals should have been driven straight to the port and put on the first ferry!

Juice 4 U could face having to pay fines of up to £10,000 per illegal worker unless it can prove it carried out the correct right-to-work checks.

The maximum fine it faces is £70,000 for the six people arrested as well as a seventh individual found on the premises who was already on immigration bail.

Anyone who suspects that illegal workers are being employed at a business can phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – anonymity is assured.
