Failed asylum seeker gets football banning order.

Why is this judge imposing a three year football banning order on a failed asylum seeker when he should be deported.

IlieA failed Iraqi asylum seeker’s first Blackburn Rovers match will also be his last after magistrates imposed a three-year football banning order. Surely this virtually says this asylum seeker is legally entitled to be in this country?

The justices also ordered Yadgar Shafik Mohammed to pay £150 in fines and costs despite his claim to have no income.

“If you can find money to go and watch a football match you can find money to pay a fine,” the chairman told Mohammed.

Mohammed, 19, of Griffin Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to going onto the playing area during the Carling Cup against Chelsea at Ewood Park.

Scott Ainge, prosecuting, said the match went to a penalty shoot out and when a Chelsea player missed his spot kick there was a pitch invasion.

“The defendant was one of the people who ran into the penalty area amongst the Blackburn players,” said Mr Ainge. “In my opinion this is just the kind of behaviour football banning orders were designed to deal with.

“If the court decides not to impose a football banning order that would appear to send out the message that it is OK to go onto the playing area.”

Pity the judge sent out a message that it is acceptable for failed asylum seekers to remain in the UK.
