Ooodles of illegal noodle workers found.

A noodle bar has been forced to close after it was caught employing five illegal workers.

IlieThe Yippee Noodle Bar in King Street, Cambridge, shut its doors after it was raided by immigration officers.

Staff checks revealed that five of the Chinese chefs were in the UK illegally and did not have permission to work.

Of the five men, three – a 38-year-old, a 37-year-old and a 36-year-old – were failed asylum seekers and two – a 23-year-old and a 34-year-old – were illegal entrants. The 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of identification offences and was remanded in custody. Steps are being taken to deport the others.

An answerphone message tells customers “due to staff shortages, we will remain closed until further notice”.

MEANWHILE IN CHELMSFORD

Immigration officials raided an Indian restaurant to find two illegal workers.

IlieNow the Taj Mahal 2 in Baddow Road, Chelmsford, is facing a fine of up to £20,000. Officers from the UK Border Agency searched the restaurant, known as TM2, last Thursday and discovered two members of staff that did not have permission to work in the UK. The owner of the restaurant, Mr Ihmed, said: “One of the workers was here for a week and the other one was working here for two months.
